Renowned restaurateur, multiple James Beard Awards winner and “Top Chef” judge Hugh Acheson is opening a multiroaster coffee shop in Atlanta.
The shop, called Spiller Park Coffee, will be part of the Ponce City Market, a commercial redevelopment project bringing back to life the landmark Sears, Roebuck & Company building in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.
In an Instagram post late last week, Acheson provided a sneak peek of the drink menu, which has a fairly standard espresso-based lineup — espresso, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, latte and Americano — a selection of whole-leaf teas and hot chocolate. The filter coffee preview selection includes three single-origins from Four Barrel Coffee (San Francisco), Heart Coffee Roasters (Portland, Ore.) and George Howell Coffee (Boston), as well as a Four Barrel Decaf.
When it opens, the shop will also serve one of the best tag lines in the business: “Coffee So Good We Drink it Ourselves.”
The first business to open in the Ponce City development was Dancing Goats Coffee Bar, a manual brew bar by longtime Atlanta roaster Batdorf & Bronson. Spiller Park and Dancing Goats will be among at least 12 food-and-drink-related retailers inside the market by year’s end, if all goes as planned.
