Indonesian coffee equipment supplier and full-service consultancy Toffin Indonesia has opened a massive coffee showroom, co-working space and training center in Jakarta, featuring an entire floor dedicated to products in the Victoria Arduino portfolio.
A grand opening of the new Toffin headquarters was held earlier this month, featuring appearances from dignitaries such the deputy governor of Jakarta, the Italian ambassador to Indonesia, and the director of the Italian Institute of Culture. 2017 World Barista Champion and brand ambassador Dale Harris was also on hand to unveil the Nuova Simonelli Mythos 2 grinder, which was introduced this year.
In total, the Toffin showroom and headquarters occupies some 1,800 meters (approximately 5,900 square feet) throughout four floors. As a licensed distributor for the Italian Simonelli Group — owner of the Victoria Arduino and Nuova Simonelli espresso equipment brands — Toffin dedicated the first floor as a Victoria Arduino showroom, including popular VA models such as the VA388 Black Eagle, the official espresso machine of the World Barista Championship for at least the next two years.
Employing approximately 50 people, the facility also houses a bean-to-cup coffee training center, according to Toffin, including programming on the history of coffee, coffee selection, roasting and extraction. Barista skills development, equipment selection and maintenance and professional certifications will also be part of the training center.
A second department within the facility will serve as a co-working space and business-development center, where existing and aspiring coffee business owners can address subjects such as equipment selection, entrepreneurship, menu development and spare parts sales, according to Toffin.
Launched in 2007 and growing along with a booming cafe culture in Jakarta that has arisen from a more robust middle class, Toffin now maintains distribution partnerships with other coffee equipment suppliers, including names such as Compak, Hario, Kruve, Fetco and Technivorm, among others.
