Coming to Portland: Roast Summit from Roast Magazine and Buckman Coffee Factory

Roast Summit

Roast magazine and Buckman Coffee Factory are hosting a two-day educational and social event called Roast Summit on Jan. 23-24, 2020, in Portland, Oregon. The event will offer educational sessions, workshops and networking opportunities for the coffee roasting community.

The first day of Roast Summit will be held at McMenamins Kennedy School and will include lectures on current and technical aspects of roasting, green coffee education, and the science of coffee. The second day of the event will feature hands-on training at Buckman Coffee Factory, exploring current sample roasting techniques and equipment, proper procedures for maintaining coffee roasting machines, cupping and sensory evaluation of coffee, as well as green coffee evaluation.

“Our goal is to provide a venue for connections to develop and grow among specialty coffee roasters, where we can expand on the conversations that are taking place in our global industry — and to deepen our shared commitment to quality,” said Roast publisher Connie Blumhardt. “The low entry fee is designed to be inclusive and break down some the cost barriers for people to attend.”

Event registration is $125 per person, which includes two days of lectures and hands-on activities, plus breakfast and lunch on both days. The fee does not include lodging.
