Providing a clear coffee vision within the bewildering Las Vegas food-and-beverage scene is Golden Fog Coffee, a new specialty coffee shop in the downtown Arts District neighborhood.
Following a grand opening last month, the shop offers coffees from San Francisco-based roaster Sightglass Coffee that makes their way through batch brews, manual pourovers or a GF-branded white-and-wood Sanremo Cafe Racer espresso machine supported by a Mahlkönig Peak grinder.
Inside the new Sharedowntown (styled by the developer as “shareDOWNTOWN”) residential complex, Golden Fog is the brainchild of the wife and husband team of Juliet and Derek Douglas.
Juliet brings a wealth of hospitality experience to the venture, including past ownership of a private event company and the past two years generating food-and-beverage sales at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and casino on the strip. Derek Douglas is a Las Vegas native and artist known locally by the moniker “SNIPT.”
The 1,400-square foot cafe, which features seating for 35 guests at full capacity inside plus outdoor patio seating, will feature a rotating selection of artwork through a dedicated gallery and a rotating mural area.
The Douglases said in an email sent to DCN that the shop’s menu reflects their own plant-based lifestyle. The menu will be 100% vegetarian and the owners say they will not be charging any “vegan tax” for plant-based milks or vegan food items.
In addition to the coffee menu, grab-and-go snacks will include items such as croissants, turnovers, bagels, granola, hummus, and cookies, while tea is being supplied by Las Vegas-based Tealet and Milwaukee-based Rishi.
Golden Fog Coffee is now open at 1300 S. Casino Center Boulevard, Unit 110, in the Las Vegas Arts District.
