Coffee Association of Canada Launches Annual Awards

CAC coffee awards

The Coffee Association of Canada (CAC) is launching an awards program, honoring individual coffee professionals for lifetime achievements or volunteer efforts, and businesses or organizations for impact and innovation.

Nominations just opened for the inaugural awards, with a deadline of Oct 9. Winners will be announced and celebrated at the CAC annual conference on Thursday, Nov. 9, in Toronto.

“It’s time to acknowledge the people and organizations who are exemplifying excellence in the coffee community,” CAC President Robert Carter said in an announcement today. “We want to celebrate the pioneers who have led the way in the coffee industry in Canada, and also the innovators and new and growing up-and-comers who are already making an impact.”

The program is launching with awards in four categories: Lifetime Achievement, for an individual who has had a “significant, profound, and lasting impact on the coffee community”; Innovative Achievement, for a company, product or service; Small Chain – Big Impact, for a small business; and Volunteer of the Year, for an individual.

According to the nonprofit CAC — whose membership includes many of the largest coffee roasting, trading and retailing businesses in Canada — the nominations will be judged by an external committee.

Nomination information is available here.
