The 93rd Pacific Coast Coffee Association‘s (PCCA) annual convention is heading to Carlsbad, California, Sept. 12-14.
Taking place at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, the convention will include a range of networking and leisure activities alongside the trade group’s annual business duties and professional programming.
Featured presentations this year will include: Kyle Newkirk of Arkansas-based Westrock Coffee discussing cold drinks and product innovation; and Marcus Laws, project director of Café del Futuro, NCBA CLUSA, discussing the Climate Smart Puerto Rican Coffee Project.
A speaker panel on banking, coffee production and the “C market” will include: Patrick Scott of Brown Brothers Harriman, Michael Nugent of MJ Nugent and Albert Scalla of StoneX Financial.

Other highlights will include past PCCA President Frank Gaviña Jr. of F. Gaviña & Sons remarking on the group’s 100-year anniversary countdown, and cocktails made by 2022 U.S. Coffee in Good Spirits Champion Alexandra Hager. The event weekend will also include a visit to the Fox Point Farms farm complex, roastery and brewery in nearby Encinitas.
As part of the proceedings, outgoing PCCA President Andrew Vournas of Thousand Oaks, California-based Vournas Coffee Trading will pass the gavel to incoming president Sharon Dolezal Wood of Hawaii-based Arianna Farms ‘Ono Kona Coffee, who will lead the newly appointed PCCA board.
