Czech coffee roaster manufacturer Typhoon Roasters relaunched a 10-kilo-capacity roaster within its existing roaster lineup, focusing more on lighter commercial roasting with a smaller footprint and updated controls.
“Originally intended as an industrial model, we’ve adapted this roaster to deliver the same precision and quality to shop and small-scale roasters,” Typhoon Roasters CEO Nikolas Krutin recently told Daily Coffee News. “Our focus was on advancing automation while preserving the essential features of earlier versions and enhancing the user experience.”
Named simply the Typhoon 10kg, the roaster remains centered on the company’s patented fluid bed system, featuring a horizontal chamber in which beans are kept aloft over an array of hot air jets.
The company claims its machines roast coffee up to 40% faster than by indirect heating, maximizing efficieny. Available in either gas-fueled or all-electric configurations, the Typhoon 10kg completes roasts of batches up to 10 kilograms (22 pounds) within 7-10 minutes.
“Both [the gas and the electric] roasters offer comparable efficiency,” said Krutin.as Typhoon Roasters strives to make each model highly economical and energy efficient.”
All Typhoon machines are equipped with the Prague-based company’s custom profiling software built into touchscreen consoles. All are also compatible with third-party software solutions such as Cropster or Artisan. Internal components are arranged for easy access, and exterior panels are fully customizable for branding and coloring by request, according to the company.
The new 10-kilo machines are available in the United States starting at $54,000. Typhoon’s U.S-based partner First Crack Coffee — which operates co-roasting facilities in St. Louis (Missouri), Denver and Cleveland — currently has machines on display. Additional demonstration units are expected to come to live at the end of November at the Typhoon USA showroom in Las Vegas run by Mason Salisbury.
Krutin said the company is currently taking several steps to expand its presence overseas.
“In 2025, we expect to expand in the U.S. with more partners and foster additional venues to showcase our European technology,” said Krutin. “We are excited about the year ahead, as Typhoon Roasters is in a period of growth and fine-tuning our team.”
