After six years building a devoted following at its cafe north of Atlanta in Alpharetta, Georgia, specialty coffee roaster Belux has opened its second location in nearby Roswell.
As the first tenant in a space at the new Southern Post development in the heart of Roswell, the second Belux is even more deluxe than the first, offering more interior space and two different coffee bars.
Founded as a passion-driven small-batch roastery by coffee aficionados Lucy Liu and Ben Li in 2015, Belux now sources a range of high-end coffees for guests in Alpharetta, and now about a 25-minute drive southeast to Roswell.
“The space is delivered to us in grey shell,” Liu said of the new shop. “[We needed] to work diligently with our architect and general contractor, Southern Choice Construction, to build the walls, finish the open ceilings and pipes, and pour the concrete floor.”
The Roswell cafe expands upon the manual brew bar concept established at the original, with Hario V60 drippers, siphon brewers, Acaia scales and Mazzer Philos single-dose grinders. Led by Belux’s baristas, the pourover bar was created to highlight the roaster’s premium and experimental offerings.
Facing the shop’s entrance is the espresso bar, where Belux’s Jumping Lapin espresso blend remains on offer alongside a monthly rotating single-origin offering. Liu said the single-origin espresso (SOE) offerings will tend to be more fruity, floral or complex. Espresso is made through a La Marzocco Linea PB espresso machine paired with Mahlkönig E65 and E80 grind-by-weight machines.
Reinforcing concepts of craft and quality, espresso-based drinks for dine-in guests are served in Loveramics-made ceramics, reducing the use of to-go cups. Belux also makes its syrups and baked goods in house.
For the new shop’s architecture and interior design, Belux turned to Amy Hsu of Kaisen Design, who also lead the design of the first shop.
“We asked for a very clean, modern and Scandinavian vibe so that the spotlight can be on our La Marzocco espresso machine, slow coffee bar and coffee products,” Liu said. “All the indoor chairs, bar stools and tables are locally custom made with wood or natural material with colors to match the build out.”
The new Belux Coffee Roswell is located at 1055 Alpharetta St #1800. Tell DCN’s editors about your new coffee shop or roastery here.
