Slow Pour Supply Hosting Origami Cup USA Ahead of SCA Expo in Houston

Origami Cup USA 2025

Houston-based manual coffee equipment seller Slow Pour Supply is holding the first ever United States version of its pourover brewing competition, the Origami Cup.

Taking place Tuesday, April 22, three days ahead of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) expo, which is also in Houston this year, the Origami Cup USA will see 18 competitors working their magic with the event’s namesake brewing device, the Origami dripper.

With a compulsory coffee from sponsor Caravela, the competition will span three rounds. U.S. Coffee Championships chair and Slow Pour Supply Owner Anita Tam and current U.S. Brewers Cup co-chair Kendra Sledzinski will lead a judging panel that will include past Brewers Cup champions.

In addition to the SCA Expo being something of a home game for Slow Pour Supply, the company is also the official distributor of the Origami dripper in the U.S. market. The porcelain, Japanese-made brewing device bears a striking visual design and carries a reputation for brewing precision and filter flexibility. Slow Pour Supply is also using the event platform to showcase the ReWork Dripper, a newly released Origami model that includes 20% recycled porcelain content.

The winner of the inaugural Origami Cup USA will receive an “origin trip” sponsored by Caravela. The second-place finisher will receive a WPM ZP-1 single-dose grinder, while the third-place finisher will receive a $350 Gift Card from Slow Pour Supply.

Entries into the $150 competition almost immediately sold out on Feb. 22, although Slow Pour Supply has opened up wait list entries here.
