With a name referencing its New York City origins, For Five Coffee Roasters recently made a major leap south, opening a spacious flagship cafe in Atlanta.
Opened last month on the ground floor of Midtown Atlanta highrise 1105 West Peachtree, the 3,700-square-foot cafe is larger than any of the company’s other 30 retail locations spread across New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston.
Counter seating plus table-side seating in leather couches and lounge chairs create a modern vibe under soaring ceilings and wood-paneled walls. A patio facing 12th Street accommodates even more guests.
Light pouring in from the corner location’s many expansive windows hits the white-veined black quartz coffee bar where 3-group and 2-steam Modbar setups with matte black pendants shine. An adjoining 1,500-square-foot space will soon open to offer an evening cocktail bar.
“When designing each new cafe, we work closely with our talented designer, Kevin Dellinger, to ensure that every space reflects our commitment to innovation and comfort,” For Five Coffee Roasters CEO Stefanos Vouvoudakis told Daily Coffee News. “The goal for our Atlanta location was to create an environment that wows from the moment you walk in — from the lighting and layout to the carefully curated furniture and materials.”
An onsite kitchen accommodates an extensive menu of hot breakfast plates, toasts, sandwiches and salads throughout the day.
For Five Coffee Roasters is one of several hospitality businesses within the lobby of 1105 West Peachtree, including The Office Bar restaurant and Emilio’s Tacos and Tequila Bar. The development is also home to private condos, clients such as Google and a law firm, and the Epicurean Atlanta hotel.
“We chose Atlanta as the site for our flagship because it presents a fantastic opportunity to build upon the success we’ve seen in markets like Washington, D.C.,” said Vouvoudakis. “With its thriving culture, diverse community, and rapid growth, Atlanta is the perfect city for us to plant our roots and elevate the local cafe scene.”
Founded in Manhattan in 2010 by Vouvoudakis and co-founder Tom Tsiplakos, For Five now roasts on Diedrich machines in a 25,000-square-foot roastery in Maspeth, Queens, under the watch of head roaster George Kalogiannis.
The company is planning a second opening in Atlanta, in Buckhead, as well as additional U.S. shops. Vouvoudakis told DCN that the company has “another 30 planned in the near future.”
“This rapid expansion is a testament to the growing love for our exceptional coffee and curated cafe experience,” he said. “We’re excited to bring our unique offerings to even more communities.”
