Expanding from its dazzling roastery cafe in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida’s Paradeco Coffee Roasters recently opened a second ode to Art Deco and specialty coffee at the SkyBeach Resort.

Located off the pool deck at the newly renovated waterfront resort, the cafe offers 16 seats under the shade of a massive banyan tree outside, while the interior bursts with tropical pink, cyan and gold. A wavy 3D-printed pattern lines the front of the well-equipped coffee bar.

“Our entire branding concept is ‘paradise’ and ‘art deco,’ so naturally, we have always wanted our location to be near water,” Paradeco Coffee Co-Founder Sonya Sarkar told Daily Coffee News. “Upon touring SkyBeach Resort, we immediately saw a great opportunity. Not only were the renovations extensive and beautiful, all the tropical plants and the teal and light blue colors happen to complement our brand perfectly.”

The curtain-like surface of the bar was made from recycled material by Haddy, a St. Pete-based specialist in recycled, 3D-printed goods and furniture. For the cafe piece, entitled “Breath of Fresh Air,” Haddy worked in collaboration with UK-based designer Sofia Hagen.

“This collaboration allowed us to push the boundaries of 3D printing and sustainable design to create a space that is not only functional but also artistically compelling,” Hagen told DCN. “The ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ concept of the coffee bar epitomizes our ethos of blending art with technology and nature, and it has been inspiring to work alongside teams who are equally passionate about innovation and sustainability.”

The shop’s windows, tiles, stone-surfaced bar and durable furniture were also chosen strategically, in anticipation of the storms that are a reality of Florida beachside life.

“We wanted this project to be different in all ways, even breaking the norms of traditional building materials. The goal was to create a waterproof and indestructible coffee bar since we are right on the bay,” said Sarkar. “We finished manufacturing the bar right before the hurricanes hit Tampa Bay last fall, proving its durability.”

A custom cyan and lavender La Marzocco Linea espresso machine and matching Fetco batch brewer support a menu that closely mimics the downtown bar. The company is currently roasting offsite as its Bellwether machine undergoes repairs, offering a steady flow of single-origin microlot coffees, with an emphasis on women-owned farms.

“Once the new location is more stable and we get the Bellwether fixed, we would love to add some more wholesale accounts,” said Sarkar. “Right now we are focusing on making our two locations the best they can be.”

Grain bowls, toasts, sandwiches, salads, syrups and sauces are all made with organic ingredients within the new shop’s kitchen.

“While we strive to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing cafes in the area, we also take our product quality very seriously, as we call ourselves a ‘wellness cafe,'” said Sarkar. “While our food and drinks focus on gluten- and dairy-free options — powered with superfoods like turmeric, cacao, spirulina, etc. — we have something for everyone.”
