Take Two Does It Again with Coffee and Doughnuts in Fort Myers, Florida

With coffee and doughnuts, Take Two Coffee is taking a second run at bricks-and-mortar in Fort Myers, Florida, relocating from its original cafe to a higher-visibility location.

A little over two miles south of the original shop, the new spot for high-quality coffee and sweet treats at 3594 Broadway maximizes 800 square feet of space with vibrant pops of color, plants hanging from macramé, outdoor murals and multiple seating options between the white walls.

The shop continues to combine freshly made doughnuts, plus some savory items, with freshly roasted coffees, the latter passing through an offsite Probat P12 roaster overseen by co-owner Caleb MacPherson.

“We were hoping to do a more complete job at representing our bright and retro branding,” MacPherson recently told Daily Coffee News. “This can be seen through our epoxy speckled flooring that has our key colors of orange, teal and white in it. We also have a white square tile bar with our teal-colored grout.”

A brilliant custom orange 2-group La Marzocco Linea PB espresso machine radiates cheeriness from the coffee bar, while also connecting to Mahlkönig E80 Grind-by-Sync grinders. A Mahlkönig EK43S grinder preps coffees for a Curtis batch brewer.

Founded by MacPherson and fellow industry veteran Hunter Keslar as a wholesale roasting company in 2023, Take Two opened its original shop in May of 2024 in a space at the back of a historic Fort Myers building.

“Although it’s on one of the main throughways into Fort Myers, access was on a side street. Outdoor signage was also not allowed; nor could we defrost the windows,” MacPherson said. “We loved our first shop, but the location was incredibly difficult for our customers to gain access to.”

After giving it a go for 13 months, the company moved forward with its second take in a more central location, across the street from a professional school, next door to a preschool and near a variety of medical and office spaces.

“The new location has been slammed busy,” said MacPherson. “We also have a ton of homes and small families in our neighborhood on the north side of our shop. It is a beautiful mix of people.”

The Take Two creators are currently planning to build out a roastery and kitchen next to the new shop, including a Diedrich IR 24 machine and a cupping lab. In the meantime, Take Two is continuing to rotate seasonal coffees and specialty drinks, including some playful new non-coffee drinks for summer.

Said MacPherson, “It’s been a whirlwind on our end.”
