FreshBrew Acquires White Coffee’s Licenced Coffee Business

FreshBrew White Coffee

Houston-based private-label coffee company FreshBrew acquired the licensed-branded coffee division of New York-based White Coffee, a move that the private companies say gives FreshBrew “the nation’s largest portfolio of licensed bagged coffee and K-Cup products.”

The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Through the deal, White Coffee executives Jonathan White and Gregory White will join FreshBrew to lead the newly expanded retail division.

FreshBrew — which runs six 500-pound Probat machines at its plant in Houston — said it “will secure ownership of multiple licenses, enabling the company to develop, produce and market coffee for major brands with established market presence.”

The company said the deal will complement its existing private-label business, expanding operations to produce approximately 150,000 pounds of coffee per day. The company also offers a broad range of packaging, tea, extracts and cold brewing solutions, in part through its recent $10 million manufacturing expansion.

An announcement from FreshBrew did not provide details about specific brands or licenses that may be affected by the deal. The White Coffee website currently lists licensed partners such as food-and-candy giant Mars, Harry & David, Jim Beam and Entenmann’s, among others.

Based in Long Island City, New York, White Coffee was founded in 1939 and has expanded through three generations of the White family. White Coffee Executive Vice President Jonathan White, the current board chair of the National Coffee Association, described the acquisition as a “proud and emotional milestone.”
