The flagship Intelligentsia location at 3123 North Broadway in Chicago is closed beginning today for a remodeling project that will double the available seating and introduce more natural light.
“We hope you’ll love the changes. Soon, there will be twice as much seating, sun beaming in, and the coffee you were among the first discover and share with your friends,” Intelligentsia founder and co-CEO Doug Zell wrote in a letter to customers. “From this very spot, a great coffee company sprung that now occupies the heart and cups of many here in Chicago, Los Angeles and, by the end of this year, New York and Chicago.”
The company is planning to host an open house for the new location April 17, with a Grand Reopening the next day. According to a post on the company’s Facebook page, Intelligentsia’s Broadway baristas will be running occasional pop-ups in the neighborhood.
