Apparently so despondent over today’s closing of the original Aurora Coffee location in Atlanta, a faithful customer has chained himself to a sidewalk pole outside the shop. Representatives of the indie shop told Creative Loafing Atlanta that the move was not a publicity stunt, describing it as a “sweet” gesture.

One of the first and most longstanding coffee shops in the city, the Virginia Highlands store opened 20 years ago, but according to numerous reports, the owners couldn’t come to an agreement with the landlord over a new lease. Aurora operates one other coffee shop, at 468 Moreland Ave. in Little 5 Points. “It’s been 20 great years and while we’re sad to close our doors, we’re excited for what the future will bring,” the Aurora team said in an announcement. “We hope you’ll come by for one last cup in the neighborhood, and that we’ll see you at our Little Five Points store!”
