The owner of a new Chicago coffee bar wants to talk to you. That’s why 31-year-old Jonathan Ory, a former high-end restaurant chef in Chicago and New York, doesn’t have seating in his new Lakeview neighborhood coffee spot, Bad Wolf Coffee.
The simple bar layout features a custom-built standing-room-only table, where customers can interact with Ory or with one another. Ory recently told DNAinfo:
“I see people hunched over computers, just using the WiFi,” he said. “It’s depressing to me. I’d much rather have a lively environment. If someone’s here, I’d like to engage, talk about music, art, the Bears, the Blackhawks — anything.”
Bad Wolf, which Ory has said is a nod to Doctor Who, is serving Counter Culture coffees, along with a simple pastry program.
