Heinen’s Fine Foods, a Cleveland-based grocery chain with stores in at least 18 communities in Ohio, has begun roasting its own beans through a partnership with Equal Exchange.

Heinen’s new roasting staff will create blends from Exual Exchange-supplied arabica beans from Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Nicaragua. The grocery group says its employees have been trained in roasting by an Equal Exchange team, and it plans to roast in small batches at ten of its locations throughout the day, even creating custom blends and roasts for grocery customers as they shop.

“Get ready for the best tasting coffee around!” the Heinen’s told its customers in a recent announcement regarding the new roasting program, which will take place at the following stores:

  • Aurora
  • Avon
  • Bainbridge
  • Bay Village
  • Brecksville
  • Chardon
  • Mayfield Village
  • Shaker Heights
  • Strongsville
  • Willoughby
