Lansing, Mich.-based Paramount Coffee plans to greatly expand its manufacturing, distribution and shipping operations with the acquisition of a new 58,000-square-foot facility and an expansion to its existing headquarters.
The company says the new building on W. Grand River Ave. near Lansing’s main airport will house all of its distribution and shipping operations, as well as corporate offices, while manufacturing and roasting operations will expand at Paramount’s N. Larch site, with the addition of 20,000 square feet to 100,000 in total. The Lansing State Journal reports that the expansion investment is approximately $3.5 million.
The 70-year-old company currently employs 85 people in Lansing, while also maintaining offices in Chicago and Charlotte, N.C. Through a 2000 employee stock ownership plan, has been employee owned since 2000, focusing on private-label roasting, wholesale roasting and distribution, grocery and convenience store accounts, and the development of its own brands, including Joe Coffee and a Michigan-themed line, Mi Coffee.
“The expansion reflects not only our success in growing our sales but also Paramount’s commitment to the Lansing area,” Paramount president and COO Steve Morris said in a company announcement.
