Bow Truss Coffee Roasters has made the long trek westward to Beverly Hills, opening its first shop outside of Chicago, with more LA retail plans in the works.
Bow Truss founder Phil Tadros told Daily Coffee News that a California presence for Bow Truss — which currently has seven Chicago stores and an additional handful more on the way — makes for a natural fit, since he and others on the Bow Truss team are regularly flying in and out of LAX to meet with California clients of Tadros’ creative tech and design firm Doejo. “My brother lives in LA and is an actor and partner in that location,” said Tadros. “[It] just made sense.”
In concept, Bow Truss Beverly Hills varies little from its Chicago counterparts, offering a largely espresso-based drink menu with pourovers and batch brews of Bow Truss coffees roasted at the company’s Chicago production headquarters.
“Our Rancilio Classe 11 is the superstar of the shop,” Bow Truss Beverly Hills Manager Angela Torres told Daily Coffee News. “Everyone loves it, but we also feature the Kalita wave, [Hario] V60 and Chemex on our slow bar.”
Bow Truss is currently planning at least two more SoCal locations. The company has also confirmed that if those additional shops come to pass, plans for an LA-area roastery to support its West Coast stores will also move forward.
