World Coffee Events today announced the equipment sponsors for the next three years of competitions beginning in 2018, including brand names such as Victoria Arduino, Mahlkonig, Sanremo, Technivorm, Ditting, Anfim and Urnex.
The financial details of the sponsorships have not been disclosed, although each of the equipment sponsors was required to submit to a testing program to verify that their products meet the WCE performance standards prior to submitting bid proposals.
Founded by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe and the Specialty Coffee Association of America, which have since merged to become the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Events produces and manages the World Barista Championship, the World Cup Tasters Championship, the World Latte Art Championship, the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, the World Coffee Roasting Championship, and the World Brewers Cup.
Each of those events requires its own specialized equipment, and equipment sponsorships run for three years. The Victoria Black Eagle espresso machine has been used for the World Barista Championship since its debut in 2015, and the machine will again sit atop the WBC bar through 2020 alongside Mahlkonig Peak and EK43 S grinders.
