Coffee is the name of the game at the upcoming Specialty Coffee Expo, taking place this week in Seattle. While roasters and popup bars will bring their best stuff for people to sip and savor, coffee buyers will be seeking out some great coffees to eventually serve to their customers, too.
Though we unfortunately don’t have the digital real estate to promote every cupping event in and around this year’s Expo, we present here a select list of public cuppings, representing a wide variety of sellers, origins and growing regions. All cupping events listed below are hosted at the Washington State Convention Center, 705 Pike Street, unless noted otherwise, and will require a trade show badge to attend.
On Thursday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Street Bean Coffee Roasters, 5015 Roosevelt Way Northeast, taste the freshest Genuine Origin coffees at a public cupping with Jen Hurd. Genuine Origin will be at booth #2625 during the show.
Fulcrum Coffee will host 3 cupping sessions with ICAFE, NAMA, and ACE between Thursday, April 19, and Saturday, April 21, at 4660 Ohio Ave S. Explore new coffee varieties from different origins and learn from panel discussions.
International Women’s Coffee Alliance will host cupping sessions on Thursday, April 19, at 2:45 p.m. in Room 618 and on Sunday, April 22 at 8 a.m. in Room 615. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with IWCA producers.
Visit booth #2501 on Friday, April 20, through Sunday, April 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for three days of tastings, talks, and cuppings hosted by the Hawaii Coffee Association — all with 100 percent Hawaiian coffee from various regions.

Cup Yunnan’s finest coffees on Friday, April 20, from 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Saturday, April 21, from 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 618 with open cupping sessions hosted by Yunnan Coffee Exchange.
Sustainable Harvest La Lucha Auction Cuppings
Cuppings for each auction coffee plus silent bidding will be held on Friday, April 20 (12 p.m.), and Saturday, April 21 (3 p.m.), in Room 201. Ninety percent of the auction revenue will go to the producers, while 10 percent covers operational costs.
Join Royal Coffee for a fresh crop cupping and discussion with founder Bob Fulmer and the trading team on Friday, April 20 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in room 618.
Try some of the best coffee from Ecuador — hosted by Capamaco Trading, Hacienda Santa Gertrud’s, and The Source Coffee Traders — on Friday, April 20, at 9 a.m. and Saturday, April 21, at 3 p.m. at Homewood Suites, 206 Western Ave W.
Taste coffee samples from various regions in Brazil and experience a wondrous diversity of aromas and flavors. Visit the Brazil Specialty Coffee Association booth #401 at 1 p.m. daily from Friday, April 20, through Sunday, April 22.
This coffee cupping on Saturday, April 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. will feature coffees from De la Gente (Guatemala), Long Miles Coffee Project (Burundi), and Direct Origin Trading (Colombia), highlighting unique farmer-focused coffee programs.
On Saturday, April 21, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in Room 3AB, Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) members and community will taste coffees from roasters with the CoE Coffee Swap and celebrate with ACE as it awards its Golden Spoon recipients.
Experience the extraordinary 2018 new crop winners from El Salvador Cup of Excellence on Sunday, April 22, from 8 to 9:45 a.m. in Room 618. ACE will be hosting a cupping of the top 10 coffees from the competition.
La Minita has an extra large booth this year to accommodate cuppings of a wide variety of coffee offerings, many of which haven’t yet event landed in the U.S. Visit booth #820 at the show to sample these coffees.
