Idaho-based commercial roasting equipment manufacturer Diedrich Roasters has unveiled a new Midwest headquarters and education center in Chicago’s north suburbs.
Opened this summer and co-inhabited by the coffee roasting consultancy Firedancer Coffee Consultants, the 5,000-square-foot facility in Schaumburg serves as offices and a showroom for Diedrich and its commercial equipment, while also hosting a broad range of educational programming and training.
Diedrich IR-5 and IR-1 machines are installed within the facility’s approximately 900-square-foot roasting and cupping area, while a separate education room offers additional space for classes and lectures.
The facility recently played host to the Coffee Roasting Forum, co-hosted by Diedrich and Firedancer, while classes have begun enrollment. Firedancer founder, certified Specialty Coffee Association trainer (AST) and food safety expert Mike Ebert is acting as the lead trainer for the education program.

“Our vision for the facility is to continue to grow and facilitate our expanding commercial market segment, which includes coffee consulting, plant design and facility concepts,” Diedrich Marketing Consultant and Firedancer Senior Partner Launtia Taylor recently told DCN. “With the growth of Diedrich Roasters’ commercial segment, Chicago is the ideal location to centralize and support our activities and services.”
The public is welcome to the facility by appointment. Just last year, Diedrich opened its shiny new factory and headquarters in Ponderay, Idaho, signaling a renewed focus on both smaller commercial roasting operations and larger industrial clients.
Current course offerings at the Chicagoland facility can be found here.
