Three prominent specialty coffee chains in The Netherlands are merging to form a new franchise-driven company called Caféco.
The merger brings together the coffee chains Doppio Espresso (25 retail locations) and Barista Café (23 locations) along with chocolate specialist and cafe chain Chocolate Company (19 locations).
Each of the Dutch brands will remain intact, while the unified Caféco organization will be headquartered in Joure.
The financial terms of the consolidation were not disclosed. An announcement from the newly aligned companies said the agreement will further expand franchise development while promoting operational efficiency.
“I am proud of this milestone for the three formulas,” Doppio Espresso Founder Peter van Eijl, who is now managing director of Caféco, said. “We believe in growth by consolidation in the out of home coffee market and do not rule out further collaborations in the near future.”
