After more than a decade of serving the specialty coffee industry in the United States, Olam Specialty Coffee is expanding its brand and e-commerce platform to Europe.

With new sites catering to buyers in the UK and EU, Olam Specialty Coffee is now offering European buyers online sample requests and direct purchases of its traceable specialty coffees. Online buyers can use filters for elements such as region or country of origin, processing style or coffee plant variety.

“I am very excited to offer our clients a platform that brings our full range of great coffees to their fingertips and allows them to browse, learn about and buy the coffees they need,” Philip Schluter, Managing Director of Olam Specialty Coffee Europe, said in an announcement released by Olam Specialty Coffee this week.

Based in Liverpool, UK, Schluter was previously the managing director of his family’s coffee trading company Schluter S.A., which was acquired by Olam Specialty parent company Olam International in 2016.

Whereas Schluter previously focused largely on the East African coffee market, Olam Specialty Coffee Europe currently boasts specialty microlots from parts of Africa, Asia and Latin America.

“My passion for the last 25 years has been to see specialty coffee used as a vehicle to improve the livelihoods of coffee farmers across the world,” Schluter said in today’s announcement. “This new platform is the next step to bring the coffee community closer together.”

The company will be promoting the new European commerce platform at the upcoming London Coffee Festival (UK) and Specialty Coffee Expo (Boston).
