On Wednesday, April 6, just ahead of the Specialty Coffee Expo in Boston, the barista-supportive organizations Go Fund Bean and Glitter Cat Barista are joining for an event to provide free prepared meals to hardworking local baristas.
“Any time a major coffee event descends on a city, it means a ton of work for the local coffee community,” Go Fund Bean Director of Marketing Valorie Clark said in announcement of the event today. “It’s exciting, but it can be overwhelming and exhausting. We wanted to find a way to take something off baristas’ plates during Expo. The last thing anyone wants to do after a rough shift is cook, so we decided providing delicious prepared meals would be the best way we can support the Boston coffee community.”
Called Feeding Boston, the event will take place at the George Howell Coffee cafe at downtown’s Godfrey Hotel (505 Washington St.) between 6-8 p.m.

Between now and the close of the application period at 12 p.m. on April 3, up to 50 Boston-area baristas can order three prepared meals from Avellino’s and Noon Mediterranean that can be collected at the event and eaten later. Here is the application link.
Oat milk maker Oatly is sponsoring meals, while syrups specialist Torani is sponsoring non-alcoholic drinks. The Feeding Boston event will also include an on-site raffle for prizes provided by home coffee equipment maker Fellow. Everyone who orders meals is automatically entered into the raffle.
