The 2023 version of the HostMilano trade show last week in Italy presented a sea of glimmering new coffee-making equipment.
According to the organizers of the biennial event (mark your calendars for 2025) more than 180,000 guests descended on the show, which covers numerous hospitality and foodservice segments.
Not least among them, coffee and tea occupied four sprawling expo halls, wherein equipment makers showed off their latest innovations. A prevailing sense among show-goers was that this year’s event was even bigger than the last, reflecting the full force of R&D and marketing initiatives that may have previously been in holding patterns following the pandemic.
Over the next few days, DCN will be presenting some coffee-focused highlights from this year’s show, including this roundup of new commercial espresso machines as well as new commercial grinders and other roasting and commercial/prosumer products.

Here are eight new commercial espresso machines that debuted at HostMilano 2023:
Nuova Simonelli Nuova Aurelia

Italy’s own Nuova Simonelli, part of the Simonelli Group, unveiled the Nuova Aurelia, a batch of new models within the brand’s high-volume commercial workhorse Aurelia line. Pitched as the “next workstation,” the Nuova Aurelia line is designed as a robust, durable solution capable of handling a wide variety of drinks through advanced automation, including direct communications with Simonelli grinders. We’ll have more on this line in the coming weeks.

Among a flurry of innovations unveiled at HostMilano, La Marzocco launched the next generation within its popular Strada commercial line, unveiling two new machines under the Strada X moniker. While offering a wealth of technical and mechanical updates, the new machines also reflect a modernized physical design of the Strada line. We’ll have more on each of these models soon.
Sanremo D8 Platform

Italy’s Sanremo Coffee Machines unveiled an enticing new platform called Sanremo D8. The platform involves a new single-boiler design, adjustable temperature units and a seven-button control panel, while offering limitless customizations depending on clients’ needs. Iberital Vista

Barcelona, Spain-based Iberital introduced the coffee-making world to its latest machine, the dual-boiler Iberital Vista. As the first major release from Iberital since the 2018 launch of the Brutalist-style, high-tech, multi-boiler Vision espresso machine, the Vista lands alongside the Iberital Expression Pro as the company’s second dual-boiler machine. Victoria Arduino E1 Prima Pro

Simonelli Group’s Victoria Arduino showed off its brand new E1 Prima Pro, a compact single-group machine that builds upon the existing Prima E1 line, first unveiled in 2020. The new Pro model borrows the above-group 2.1-inch touchscreen and some technology from one of its much larger commercial siblings, the Black Eagle Maverick. The E1 Prima Pro closely follows the launch of the E1 Prima EXP.
Ascaso Barista T Plus 2024

Ascaso, part of Spain-based Azkoyen Group, unveiled the Ascaso Barista T Plus 2024, the latest model in the brand’s existing Barista T line. Key additions in the 2024 model include a high-definition touchscreen display for quick controls and real-time feedback, plus new insulation for the groups, steam boiler and tubes.
Tone Touch E Prototype

Swiss commercial coffee brewing equipment maker Tone Kaffeemaschinen rolled out a prototype of what would be its first commercial espresso machine, a boiler-free two-group machine called the Tone Touch E. The machine continues Tone’s creative forays into boiler-free machinery following the recent release of its Tone Touch 04 batch brewing system. We’ll have more on the Touch E soon.
Franke Mytico Line

Swiss super-automatic coffee machine specialist Franke pulled back the curtain on its new Mytico line of coffee machines. With options for two-step or one-step drink prep through integrated milk modules, the line is designed to reference classic Italian espresso machine design while maximizing ease of use for baristas. The Mytico Vario model is now available throughout Europe, while forthcoming model in the Mytico line, the Uno, is expected early next year. Mytico machines are not currently available in the United States.
