Italian espresso grinder maker Anfim recently revealed a new machine at the top of its line of commercial machines: The Anfim Alba.

The Alba’s 80-millimeter hardened steel flat burrs are the largest of any grinder made by 91-year-old Anfim, which since 2012 has been part of the Hemro Group of companies.

On a 220-volt 50-Hz power source, the burrs are spun at 1,500 RPM by a 520-watt motor, leading to an output of 5.6 grams of espresso-size grounds per second, according to the company. With the capability to turn out a 22-gram shot’s worth of grinds in less than 4 seconds, the Alba is also Anfim’s fastest grinder.

“Alba, Anfim’s latest flagship in our product lineup, takes the lead with its exceptional speed and grinding capacity,” Hemro Group Head of Innovation and Technology Arnaldo Rodrigues told Daily Coffee News. “This grinder outpaces the competition in the commercial segment, offering impressive performance within a compact footprint.”

The burrs for the Alba are made by fellow Hemro Group company Mahlkönig at its factory in Hamburg, Germany.

The Alba’s performance is approximately twice as fast as the 65-millimeter flat-burred Anfim Luna grinder, which launched in January of this year. While they vary on speed the Alba and Luna share a number of features.

The Alba carries forth the Luna’s all metal body construction and general shape. It has the same 2-kilo-capacity hopper and 3.5-inch touchscreen through which baristas can store and access up to three programmable grind-time presets. The Alba weighs about 2 kilograms more than the Luna, but has only a marginally larger footprint.

Both machines include an adjustable and removable spout, stepless grind-size adjustment and an internal component layout optimized for ease of maintenance. Together, their release marks a turning point for the brand, Rodrigues said.

“The introduction of Luna and Alba marks a significant milestone for Anfim, solidifying our belief that we now possess the ideal product portfolio to cater to commercial requirements globally,” said Rodridgues. “The revamped Anfim corporate design, coupled with our newly established factory in Italy dedicated to Anfim grinder production, has empowered the brand with a robust identity. Our overarching vision is for Anfim to emerge as the premier grinder brand in the commercial segment in the times ahead.”
