Starbucks Plans to Open More than 600 New Stores in India
Tata Starbucks, the joint venture between Starbucks and Tata Consumer Products, announced plans this week to operate 1,000 stores throughout India. The company currently has just shy of 400 stores, and plans to maintain a pace of one new store every three days.
Blank Street Coffee Focuses on Subscriptions
Fast-growing New York-born chain Blank Street Coffee has recently turned its focused to subscriptions, attracting some 5,000 customers to a new subscription plan with thousands more on a waiting list, as reported by CNBC.
Dutch Bros Names Two New Executives
U.S. coffee chain Dutch Bros has named two key executive hires: Former Nike and Starbucks executive Sumitro Ghosh is joining the company as president of operations; and Jess Elmquist, formerly of Life Time Inc., is joining Dutch Bros as as chief people officer.
Nguyen Coffee Drinks Rolling Out in Sprouts Stores Nationwide
Brooklyn, New York-based Nguyen Coffee Supply announced this week that all three of its Vietnamese coffee-based ready-to-drink (RTD) products will be included in a nationwide rollout in Sprouts Farmers Market stores, including 400 stores in 23 U.S. states.
Philly’s Ultimo Coffee Workers File to Remove Union Representation
Workers at Ultimo Coffee in Philadelphia have filed paperwork to de-certify union representation from Workers United, the umbrella union group behind the Starbucks unionization push.
Philz Coffee HQ Leaves San Francisco
San Francisco-born coffee roaster and retailer Philz Coffee has relocated its corporate headquarters from San Francisco to Oakland. The coffee chain’s original coffee shop location in San Francisco closed last year.
Australian Open and Luckin Coffee Ink Sponsorship Deal
The Australian Open and China-born coffee chain Luckin Coffee have signed a multi-year sponsorship deal. Luckin currently has more than 13,000 stores in China and is currently expanding into Singapore.
