Ireland-based commercial beverage equipment company Marco Beverage Systems officially launched the MilkPal, a new cold and hot milk frothing and dispensing system for professional baristas.

The company also recently showed off its Pour’d Touch — the latest generation of the Pour’d dispensing system for hot, cold and sparkling beverages — to American audiences.

Both new products were on display at the SCA Expo in Houston last month

Marco MilkPal

The MilkPal machine is capable of precisely and automatically delivering hot or cold, foamed or straight, dairy or non-dairy milks at the push of a button.

Users can program the desired frothiness and volumes to accommodate a wide range of saved recipes in high-volume settings, such as busy restaurants or cafes. The aeration system does not add water to the milk.

“It’s not a steamer; it’s not bringing in any water, which means that you’re getting a much fuller flavor, a much creamier texture and fuller mouthfeel,” Gemma Kiernan, head of marketing at Marco Beverage Systems, told Daily Coffee News. “You can set up to 35 different recipes, and you’re able to customize the volume. It’s really simple to use. You literally just press the button, you get your volumetric dispense, and away you go.”

Compatible with under-counter refrigerators, the MilkPal connects to plumbed water sources and drain lines used in cleaning and maintenance. Its milk lines automatically self-purge and rinse after each use and, if idle for more than six minutes, the system pulls residual milk back from its tubing into its original containers and then self-flushes with water.

“It’s a fully closed system for cleaning,” said Kiernan. “At the end of the day, you take out your milk tube, put it into the drip tray, and then it just flushes and washes and flushes and washes.”

Each MilkPal draws from only one milk container at a time, barring any possibility of contamination between dairy and non-dairy milks. Each system also includes filters in its intake tube and before its output nozzle, removing sediment or other particles in the milk.

Marco launched the MilkPal in the European Union last year before the recent U.S. launch.

Marco Pour’d Touch

In Houston, Marco also showed off its Pour’d Touch, the newer version of its established Pour’d Touch beverage dispenser with an improved and larger touchscreen.

The full-color touchscreen interface mounted on each font allows users to program each station to dispense water, coffee, tea, cold brew, flavors or other liquids in prescribed recipes and volumes. Liquids can be dispensed — either by staff or directly by customers — in one-touch volumetric doses, or through a press-and-hold.

“It works the exact same way as the Pour’d; it just has that really nice touchscreen, and also the area for branding,” said Kiernan. “Effectively you can run whatever kind of beverage you want through it. You can change the background, you can change your branding on it.”

Marco will begin accepting orders for MilkPal next month, with orders for Pour’d Touch slated to open towards the end of the summer or early fall.

Kiernan said the Pour’d Touch pricing will likely land at approximately 30% higher than an original Pour’d, while specific prices for both new products are not yet announced.
