A husband-and-wife team in Troy, New York, is currently renovating a former confectionary, reclaiming as many elements as possible, to create a new cafe, wine bar and sweets shop.
Located at 12 Second St., the Charles F. Lucas Confectionery & Wine Bar will first open as a wine bar, with a cafe element to follow, according to owners Vic Cristopher and Heather LaVine, who recently explained the concept to the Business Review.
The business is named after a confectioner who opened a shop in the same space in 1863. There’s no word yet on what the couple’s specific plans for coffee are, but a collection of photos on their Facebook page suggest an appealing atmosphere, at the least.
The couple hopes to open in November.

Thanks for the interest. We have signed on with Blue Bottle Coffee, and are excited about introducing pourovers to New York’s Capital Region.
We have restored a 1965 Faema President for espresso and we’ll be brewing New Orleans style Cold Brew, as well.
