Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Coffee Now Exists

Considering all the experimentation in barrel aging of green, unroasted coffees throughout the coffee world in recent years, it seemed only a matter of time before coffees took on not only the flavor characteristics found inside the barrel, but also the names and brands on the outside.

Last week, Stirling, N.J.-based wholesale and private label coffee roaster World of Coffee Inc. announced the launch of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Coffee. It’s not totally clear whether barrel aging is involved, but the companies did say coffee product is “infused” with the classic Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 recipe Tennessee whiskey.

“We use the best tasting and highest quality coffees in the world and now add to that the authentic taste and aroma of Jack Daniel’s,” said Charlie Newman, president, owner and roastmaster of World of Coffee. “We take a lot of care and pride in the coffee products we craft and Jack Daniel’s Coffee is no exception.”

The Jack Daniel’s coffee is available only in pre-ground form in 8.8-ounce collectible tins or 1.5-ounce gift bags, which are retailing at $21.95 and $6.95, respectively at the Jack Daniel’s Lynchburg Hardware and General Store in Lynchburg, Tenn., prior to a nationwide rollout.

I’m suspicious of any flavored coffee. If you have to flavor a coffee to enhance it’s quality, then it must not be that good to begin with.
