The initial offering under the Willie’s Remedy banner is an 8-ounce bag of roasted whole bean coffee composed of Castillo, Colombia, and Caturra varieties sourced from the Santuario region of Antioquia, Colombia.
The company behind Willie’s Remedy, listed only as LHC, Inc., describes the coffee as a “medium-dark blend with balanced acidity that packs a powerful aroma, with flavor notes of cherry and cocoa.”
The kicker, of course, is that the roasted beans are infused with hemp-derived CBD, with each 8-ounce cup of brewed coffee reportedly containing approximately 7 milligrams of the stuff. Each bag is selling online for $36 plus shipping.
The product comes just months after the ratification of the Farm Bill of 2018, which legalized the production and manufacture of hemp products throughout the United States. Since then, numerous coffee companies have brought to market CBD coffee products, although marketing their potential health benefits when interstate sales are involved remains a touchy subject with the FDA.
Willy Nelson’s wife, Annie Nelson, is described as a co-developer of the coffee product, which the company clearly notes is not designed to get coffee drinkers high — beyond caffeine, anyway.
“The Willie’s Remedy line is a purposeful departure from Willie’s Reserve,” Annie Nelson said in a press release, referring to a separate Willie-sanctioned line of weed products. “It’s not about getting high, but it’s still all about Willie and the benefits we believe cannabis has to offer. Willie and I are proud to offer quality, American-sourced hemp wellness options for people of his generation, our kids’ generation, and everyone in between.”
