The third Mothership Coffee Roasters cafe has blasted off, propelling coffees of stellar quality to new reaches within the sparkling neon universe of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mothership Coffee CEO Juanny Romero and partners brought their Jetsons-esque interior design concept to local firm Tre Builders for the buildout, creating what Romero envisioned as a mid-century cafe inside of a spaceship.
“We were going for a retro-themed space for post-modern living,” Romero told Daily Coffee News. “Some of my favorite designed elements are the back-lit walnut panels, and our espresso bar with the black and white quartz veins.”
Colorful rooftop seating is also available for all to enjoy, from scampering kids by day to all-night dancers when the earth rotates towards darkness. On the bar inside the roughly 1,400-square-foot shop, Mahlkönig Peak grinders orbit a three-group Slayer LP espresso machine while droplets descend like a meteor shower from a Fetco XTS batch brew system.
Roasting for all three Mothership locations as well as for the company’s wholesale business continues to take place with a 12-kilo Diedrich machine at the Mothership roastery cafe in Henderson.
“Our goal is to open our fourth and fifth location, and move our roastery to a warehouse where we can focus on a full training lab for our staff and clients, for coffee training workshops,” said Romero.
The fourth Mothership is currently being built at Saint Rose and Coronado Center in Henderson for a currently projected opening sometime in January 2020. Shop number five is slated to follow later next year in an upcoming new development called The Bend in the southwestern part of Las Vegas.
Mothership Coffee Downtown is open now at 1028 Fremont St. in Las Vegas.
