The Specialty Coffee Association today announced the launch of a Coffee Retail Summit, comprising a two-day online event in April and a related online library of resources for coffee retailers.

The online summit will take place over two business days, April 13-14 in the United States Pacific time zone, and it will include live lectures and discussions. According to the SCA, the summit will address the myriad challenges facing coffee shop owners and operators since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

”The launch of Coffee Retail Summit is particularly exciting for us as it marks the release of yet another project we have spent the past year developing in response to what we have heard from our industry,” SCA CEO Yannis Apostolopoulos said in an announcement today. “It puts the spotlight directly on the coffee retail business sector, a group that faced increasing challenges even before the pandemic hit, and represents our efforts to continue to decrease the number of barriers to access knowledge and resources within the global specialty coffee community.”

The group says the summit will be free to attend. In addition to the April event, the SCA is compiling a library of resources for coffee retail owners and operators, including “previously paywalled research alongside relevant lectures, podcasts, presentations, and compelling writing,” the group said.
