From the City of Wisdom in Greece, a new automated pourover coffee brewing system called the Wise Brewer TG is entering international commercial and prosumer markets.

The machine is the debut release of the year-old Athens-based startup equipment company Wise Coffee Products, which is selling individual units direct to consumers online for $1,590. It adds to a growing field of automatic pourover coffeemachinery.

The Wise Brewer TG features a dual-boiler water delivery system for coffee and tea, allowing users to control the volume, temperature, flow speed and number of pours per brew. Settings come through a 3.5-inch touchscreen, while an internal rotary pump draws water from the 1.7-liter onboard reservoir.

No external apps or plumbing are required for programming or water, making the machine suitable for catering or mobile coffee operations, as well as for offices or homes, according to the company. A hydraulic system available as an add-on can draw water from an external, larger water tank.

“It can be placed anywhere, without restrictions or the need for drilling holes in countertops,” Wise Coffee Products Founder Tasos Galanis told Daily Coffee News. “The philosophy of the machine is to have everything integrated. Our idea is to provide the same precise results in the cup, anywhere in the world, as long as the same water and coffee are used, while also reducing the costs of filters and installations.”

Inside the steel case of the machine is a pair of 600-milliliter, 1200-watt stainless steel boilers, one for preheating and one for finishing the heated water for brewing on demand.

“I would call them turbo boilers because they only take two minutes to reach the user-required temperature when the machine is turned on,” Galanis told DCN. “Once they reach this temperature, they maintain it while the machine is in standby, using only 2 watts.”

Water exits through one of three swappable steel shower heads designed to accommodate drippers of different shapes and sizes below. Each machine can store five brewing profiles, while an associated app is available.

“The user of the machine and its capabilities are intended for both professional use and home use, as it fits perfectly into minimalist designs alongside coffee machines and grinders,” said Galanis, who founded the self-funded company last year after three years of R&D and testing for the flagship machine.

Parts are manufactured in factories in Greece, China and elsewhere in Europe. Coding occurs in Greece, and the final assembly and testing is done by Wise Coffee Product technicians in the company’s Athens workshop.

The first public appearance of the Wise Brewer TG occurred at the company’s booth at the World of Coffee event in Athens in June 2023. Several upgrades have rolled out since then, including new automations and other features.

“From the outset, we aimed to create a low-cost filter coffee machine, and we have achieved that,” said Galanis. “The company was named this way because we will not limit ourselves to just a filter coffee machine. We are already designing a grinder and a cold brew machine. More news will be coming soon.”
