Houston-based roaster Della Coffee is continuing to combine some of life’s finer things — fresh coffee, food and wine — with the opening of its second cafe, Della Coffee + Wine.
In Richmond, Texas, the new 3,000-square-foot cafe expands on the original 1,800-square-foot Montrose shop with more seating, patios and a small market selling pantry staples and local goods.
Inside, color comes through artwork and design pieces collected during the travels of married co-founders Becca and Douglas Roses.
“We believe great design should evoke emotion and joy while creating a place where people instantly feel at home,” Becca Roses told Daily Coffee News. “Every detail was intentionally chosen to create an atmosphere that feels elevated yet approachable, full of character while still feeling comfortable and lived in.”
The Richmond kitchen serves the same breakfast and lunch menu as the original, while the biggest addition comes later in the day: beer and wine by the glass or bottle.
“The beverages may change, but the purpose stays the same,” Roses said. “We want to create a welcoming space where people slow down, gather and connect.”
Pastries, breakfast items and lunch dishes are made from scratch at both locations.
“We approach our food with the same care we give our coffee,” Roses said. “It’s a slower, more hands-on way of doing things, but we believe taking the extra time is always worth it.”
A Bellwether electric roaster at the Montrose shop now supplies both cafes, plus Della’s mobile catering program and a growing wholesale business.
Green coffees purchased through Primavera Green Coffee include offerings from Guatemala, Colombia and Tanzania, plus seasonal coffees from Ethiopia and other coffee-growing countries.
In both cafes, coffees are ground on Mahlkönig grinders for La Marzocco espresso machines, Curtis batch brewers and pourovers on Verve Dwell Drippers and Hario V60s. Cold brew is made in-house using Toddy and Hive Cafe systems.
“We’re looking for coffees that are approachable enough to enjoy every day while still offering complexity, balance and a sense of place,” Roses said. “We care deeply about quality in the cup, but we also believe quality begins at origin. We intentionally partner with suppliers who value transparency, sustainability and long-term producer relationships.”
Douglas and Becca Roses spent years in hospitality and restaurants before launching Della Coffee with the Montrose cafe in 2024. Douglas grew up in Portland, Oregon, whose coffee culture continues to inform his approach, and he is now continuing his wine education through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
“For us, coffee and wine have never felt like separate worlds,” Becca Roses said. “Coffee and wine both begin with agriculture. Origin matters. Processing matters. The people producing them matter. Both invite curiosity without requiring expertise, and both have an incredible ability to bring people together around a table.”
Della Coffee & Wine is located at 1255 Mercantile St. in Richmond, Texas.
