CQI and BSCA Partner on Coffee Education in Brazil
The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) and the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association signed an agreement at World of Coffee Brussels to expand CQI education in Brazil. Under the agreement, BSCA will distribute CQI educational offerings in Brazil while the groups seek public and private funding to lower student costs for Brazilian producers.
NCA Applauds Brazil Instant Coffee Tariff Exemptions
The National Coffee Association welcomed the U.S. Trade Representative’s announcement that coffee, including unflavored instant coffee, will be exempt from new Section 301 tariffs tied to Brazil. The decision maintains existing coffee exemptions while adding unflavored instant coffee, addressing a gap the NCA had flagged in a recent push to the Trump administration.
Another Coffee Festival Debuts in Singapore
Another Coffee Festival 2026 is making its Singapore debut Sept. 3-6 at Guoco Tower Urban Park. The nonprofit, industry-led festival is expected to feature 34 specialty coffee roasters, including 19 Singapore-based roasters and 15 international roasters from nine countries and regions across Asia and Europe.
ICO Says June Coffee Prices Fell 2.8% from May to June
The International Coffee Organization said its Composite Indicator Price averaged 248.90 U.S. cents per pound in June, down 2.8% from May. Prices fell early in the month before rebounding 17.4% from a June 9 low, with the ICO citing rising El Niño concerns and rainfall-related harvest slowdowns in Brazil’s arabica areas.
SCA Coffee Value Assessment Expands to Digital Platforms
The Specialty Coffee Association’s Coffee Value Assessment is now available through two new digital platforms: TheBeanGeek and Quantify CVA. TheBeanGeek offers a web-based CVA tool, while Quantify CVA is an iOS and Android application with multi-evaluator syncing, multilingual support and PDF form conversion.
Seattle Strong Coffee Relaunches Gofundme Amid Nestlé Dispute
Seattle Strong Coffee has relaunched a Gofundme campaign as its trademark dispute with Nestlé continues. Nestlé, owner of Seattle’s Best Coffee, first challenged Seattle Strong’s federally registered trademark in 2025, and Seattle Strong says the company has since expanded the dispute to challenge its logo and broader branding.
RoasTronix Partners on Best 100 Coffee Shops USA
Missouri City, Texas-based RoasTronix has partnered with The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops to launch Best 100 Coffee Shops USA. The new recognition program is intended to highlight U.S. cafes based on coffee quality, hospitality, innovation, customer experience and sustainability, according to RoasTronix.
Every Half Coffee Roasters Raises $8 Million
Ho Chi Minh City-based Every Half Coffee Roasters has raised US$8 million in Series A funding from existing investors Openspace Capital and DSG Consumer Partners. The company said the funding will support store expansion in Vietnam, e-commerce growth, new sales channels, coffee-processing research and long-term partnerships with local farmers.
Kauai Coffee Appoints Mark Bogner General Manager
Kauai Coffee Co. has named Mark Bogner its new general manager following the company’s recent long-term lease agreement with landowner Brue Baukol Capital Partners. Bogner, who previously served as a consultant to Kauai Coffee, succeeds Brian Kubicki, who served as acting general manager during a period of uncertainty over the future of the 3,100-acre farm, according to a Kaua’i Now report.
Carnival Reuses Coffee Grounds at Celebration Key
Carnival Corporation said its Celebration Key destination in Grand Bahama is receiving approximately 2,800 pounds of spent coffee grounds each week from Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras ship. The grounds are being composted on site and reused as fertilizer for landscaping, including native palms and trees.
