This week’s Unpacking Coffee was shot in black and white, reflecting the branding of the episode’s subject, beloved 7-year-old San Francisco roaster/retailer Four Barrel.
Kandace and Ray chat briefly with Four Barrel East Coast rep Mike Squires — who prefers the more sophisticated title “brand ambassador” — while discussing the company’s creative, hand-driven approach to branding and marketing, including keeping a designer and writer on staff.
It should be noted that Kandace and Ray’s agency, Needmore Designs, worked with the company on its recently revamped website, which creatively offers a list of individual flavor notes to single out coffees in Four Barrel’s rotating portfolio by taste preference.
Unpacking Coffee is a weekly show discovering new coffee roasters one episode at a time led by Kandace and Ray of the Portland-based studio Needmore Designs, which specializes in coffee, wine and lifestyle brands.
