Last year’s trend towards electric roasting equipment for commercial coffee operations picked up even more steam this year. It’s now starting to feel like a full-on paradigm shift.
Still relatively small in size by industrial standards, new electric-heat machines in 2024 ranged in capacity from 1 to 15 kilos. They came from new brands and established players alike, from parts of Asia, Europe or the United States.
New roasting machines in 2024 typically featured fluid bed or traditional drum and chamber designs, with some falling somewhere in between.
Various software platforms utilized by roasters also received key upgrades this year, while new storage, blending, quality-control and packaging options arrived to streamline operations and keep standards and efficiencies high.
Continuing DCN’s 2024 Year in Review, here’s a look back at the new equipment for professional roasters that emerged in 2024. For all the latest coffee roasting and equipment news, subscribe to the DCN Newsletter.
