While a competitive swath of the U.S. barista community is currently in Kansas City for the qualifying rounds of the U.S. Coffee Championships, which will take place in April in Atlanta, KC’s own Blip Roasters is fighting to rebuild after a fire last week.
The news of the fire was deeply disheartening, as it was mere months ago, in September, that members of the Blip team enthusiastically shared with us the details of their handiwork that had led to a new entrance and retail space — one they hoped would help further develop a sense of community and economic collaboration in their stretch of West Bottoms.
The fire started on the floor above the Blip HQ. Members of the Blip team were able to grab a few precious items, including a couple beloved motorcycles, although much of the Blip property was irreversibly damaged by smoke and water.
The local motorcycle and coffee communities have been quick to offer support — check out this coffee collaboration with Broadway Café. Blip is asking for direct support as well, to help rebuild the business.
