In today’s unpacking coffee, Kandace and Ray dig deep into packaging with Denver’s Huckleberry Roasters, which in four years of business has continued to up their packaging investments whenever possible. Recently Huckleberry unveiled a new design for roasted coffee offerings that includes the Biotrē bag type from Pacific Bag Inc.
Huckleberry’s Koan Goedman and Mark Mann, self-described products of the 80s, also show off their new custom packaging for small samples of individual coffees: a transparently topped tin wrapped in paper bearing the image of an old-fashioned audio cassette on the front, and info laid out to resemble liner notes around the rest.
As Ray remarks in the video regarding the presentation of samples to consumers, “You don’t want to send, like, a leftover-looking, scrappy-ass bag of coffee.”
No, you don’t.
Unpacking Coffee is a weekly show discovering new coffee roasters one episode at a time led by Kandace and Ray of the Portland-based studio Needmore Designs, which specializes in coffee, wine and lifestyle brands.
