The United States chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association is planning to host Re:Bloom (styled RE:BLOOM by the group), a free education event created by and for specialty coffee professionals.

The inaugural Re:Bloom is coming to the headquarters of Carrboro Coffee Roasters in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Sept. 27-28. Here’s the registration link.

The program should appeal to avid coffee consumers, cafe professionals, roasters, researchers, nonprofits, equipment technicians and more, according to the volunteer-led U.S. chapter.

“The 100% volunteer-run, immersive community educational and networking event focuses on emerging topics in specialty coffee, including coffee science, sustainability, transparency, collective impact, economic justice, sensory training, and community development,” the group said in a launch announcement last week.

The group said that the event in Chapel Hill will help form a template for future Re:Bloom events, for which the chapter will provide marketing assets and other support.

Although not explicitly mentioned by the U.S. chapter, the event’s concept and name call back to an event series called “Bloom” that was created by the former Barista Guild of America — which is now part of the larger Barista Guild since the SCAA/SCAE merger. The original Bloom event took place in 2016.

The two-day Re:Bloom event in Chapel Hill is scheduled to include the following presenters:
